A big part of designing a great website is getting an active user to convert into a potential client. Meaning, what do you want users to do on your website?

To drive this behavior, we use a call to action (CTA). Meaning that we are driving the users into your sales funnel. Calls to action can range from “call” or “email” to “download a pdf”. But how do we get people to do that? What type of language works for this?

Here are a few examples of the types of CTAs you might use in marketing:

In this type of CTA, the audience might be invited to sign up for a free trial, for an event, or try a new product.

Subscribe.

This CTA invites users to hear from a company. “Subscribe” CTAs are common for newsletters or hearing about offers via email.

Sign-up for free

This one is self explanatory. It makes it clear to the user that they won’t need to pay at this point in your signup process, increasing your conversion rate.

Get started.

This CTA is a friendly way for people to start the sign up process with out feeling pressure. It’s a highly actionable and suggests your visitor will be able to move forward and learn more about your product or service.

Learn more.

Sometimes, all you want is to give your potential customers a little more information so they’re prepared to buy later.  It is an inviting way to get visitors to follow a sales funnel with very low-commitment.

Join us.

This allows people to sign up for an event while feeling like they are part of a larger community.

Contact Sales

A very straight forward directive that lets people know they’ll be connected directly to a sales person through chat, call, or appointment. This is a good CTA for larger ticket items when you need to speak to a person to commit.
